ST Offers Transistor Line in TO-92 Plastic Packages

August 01, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

STMicroelectronics Inc. (ST, Lexington, MA) announced that it is offering its complete line of small-signal transistors in tiny surface-mount plastic and through-hole TO-92 packages. Among the surface-mount package types being made available are the SOT-323, SOT-223, SOT-89 and SOT-23. Until now, the company's small-signal transistors had TO-18 and TO-39 metal-can packages.

The transistors are used in general on-off switches, bias supply circuits, LED and relay drivers, infrared diode amplifiers, timer circuits, audio mute functions, high-voltage Class A preamplifiers, and RGB coil driver and telecom wireline interface circuits. The transistors are built with the latest silicon planar technology to ensure high reliability, high-gain characteristics and fast switching performance, and feature just-in-time delivery typically better than 96 percent, an average outgoing quality typically better than 3ppm, and efficient ISO 9000-qualified manufacturing.

Volume quantities are available now starting at $0.045 for the smallest in quantities of 2,500 to 3,000 units.
