Seiko Introduces Two New Families of Operational Amplifiers

May 21, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Seiko Instruments (Torrance, CA) recently introduced two families of operational amplifiers, the S-8944xA and S-891xxA Series. Packaged in SC-88A casing, both ICs are designed for low current consumption, making them suitable for battery-operated applications such as cellular phones, PDAs, MP3 players, notebook PCs, handheld games, home security, digital cameras and portable audio devices.

The S-8944xA Series is a CMOS amplifier that features rail-to-rail input/output, 0.9V low-voltage operation and an ultra-low current consumption of 0.9µA maximum. The S-8944xA Series also has a low-input offset voltage of 5.0mV maximum.

Similar to the S-8944xA, the S-891xxA features a low operating voltage of 1.8 to 5.5 V. It has a current consumption of 50µA for the S-89110ANC and 10µA for the S-89120ANC, and an input offset voltage maximum of 4.0mV.

The S-8944xA and S-891xxA are currently available and are priced at $0.80 and $0.60 each, respectively, in quantities of 1,000.
