Scottish Power Wind Farm Project Receives Approval

June 26, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Scottish Power plc (London) announced that its plan to build a 35-turbine wind farm in Scotland to produce green power has received the Argyll and Bute Council's approval. The 20-million pound ($29.14 million) medium-sized wind farm is expected to be operational by late 2003 and will be situated at Cruach Mhor in western Scotland. It will have a capacity of 29MW, which is enough to power 17,000 homes.

"The Cruach Mhor wind farm is an important element of this program and an excellent example of utilizing Scotland's abundant wind resources for environmental benefit," stated Scottish Power's head of wind development Alan Mortimer.
