rechargeable lithium-ion polymer batteries

December 12, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Venmark International (Wellesley, MA) recently introduced rechargeable lithium-ion polymer batteries featuring a building-block design which can be customized into various voltages and capacities for military, aerospace, underwater research and other applications. The Relion lithium-ion polymer batteries feature a design consisting of thin profile cells, which incorporate a patented lithium-ion solid polymer rechargeable technology. The device is designed to be capable of stacking cells to achieve voltages from 4.2Vdc to 1,000+Vdc, with up to 3.5Ah capacity and 1,000 charge-discharge cycles. The Relion lithium-ion polymer batteries are also designed to incorporate positive and negative tabs or window terminals and contain no lithium metal plating or free-flowing liquid. The batteries also contain no cadmium or lead, use a non-flammable electrolyte and can be shipped without restrictions. The batteries self-discharge at <5 percent per month. Pricing for the Relion is according to OEM customer requirement.
