Pulse Announces New Squaroid Power Inductors

March 20, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Pulse (San Diego, CA) announced two new surface-mount power inductors that measure as thin as 0.125". The new inductors are designed for high-current, low-voltage, low-profile dc/dc power converter applications. Pulse claims that the inductors have a squaroid core design with low dc resistance that offers improved circuit efficiency and high-current capabilities. “Squaroid" refers to the compact rectangular-shaped package Pulse engineers have designed, which is a single-piece, single-turn ferrite core.

Packaged in two sizes, the series is available in three inductance values, 100 (P1681T), 150 (P2005T), and 200 (P2004T) nH with dc resistance values of 0.45 milliohms. Operating temperatures are -40 to 125 degrees C.

The new line of SMT power inductors is available in tape-and-reel packaging. Prices range from $0.39 (P1681T) to $0.52 (P2004T and P2005T) each, in quantities of 100,000. Various volume discounts are available.
