Powerex Introduces New Silicon Bilateral Switch

April 09, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Powerex Inc. (Youngwood, PA) introduced a new silicon bilateral switch to be used as a trigger circuit for thyristors, triac oscillators and timers. The new switch, designated as BS08D, replaces the BS08A device and other industry types such as MBS4991 and MBS4993.

The new device has the same pin-out as the older types, but occupies about 50 percent less board space. The switch features low switching voltage (Vs = 7-9V) and good switching-voltage temperature coefficient (0.01 percent per degree C). The devices are available in 1,000-piece lots for $0.36 each.
