Powerex Adds New Modules to PowerSim app

February 17, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

Powerex, Inc. recently added several new NX-Series IGBT modules to its PowerSim app including: CM200DX-34SA, CM600DXL-34SA, CM225DX-24S1, CM300DX-24S1, CM450DX-24S1, and CM600DX-24S1. Parts ending in S1 denote the 6.1 Generation NX-Series IGBT product line, incorporating the 6.1 (Carrier Stored Trench Bipolar Transistor) CSTBT™ silicon, facilitating a very efficient, economical, robust inverter design. New design effort is minimized, as the 6.1 Generation NX-Series employs the same standard packaging and features previously introduced for the 5th and 6th Generation .

PowerSim can be used to calculate power loss and thermal conditions, both average and peak, of Powerex power semiconductors in 2-level, 3-phase inverters, based on operating conditions provided by the user. It is available for both Android and iOS.The program’s main purpose is to aid in device selection and performance validation as well as provide a starting point for a system’s thermal design. Module data for this app is consistently updated via the company’s online database.

The data and algorithms used may be subject to change without prior notice. The results of the application are not intended to match real world results with 100% accuracy, only to provide an estimated outcome.
