Powercube Intros TD Series of DC/DC Converters

February 10, 1998 by Jeff Shepard

The new TD Series of dc/dc converters from Powercube (Chatsworth, CA) are claimed to be pin-for-pin and mounting compatible with Lucent Technologies' JC and JW half-brick converters. With power ratings of 30, 50, 75, 100 and 150W, the converters are targeted for distributed and board mounting power systems in telecommunications applications. Input options include 24, 48, 150 and 200V, and available output ratings are 3, 5, 12, 15, 24 and 28Vdc. Features include over-temperature thermal shutdown and over-voltage protection. All of the units employ a fixed frequency topology operating at 375kHz, and are claimed to achieve efficiency of up to 90 percent. Total isolation of input, output and baseplate is also provided. A typical 30W TD Series converter costs $65 in quantities of 100.
