Powerbox Presents PX50 ModuScale UPS Series

December 11, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Powerbox (Sweden) presented the PX50 ModuScale Series at electronica 2000. This new UPS is a three-phase on-line system in modular design, offering N+1 redundancy.

The modules are available in 10, 15, 20 and 30kVA versions. Up to three modules can be accommodated in a 19" rack with a floor area of 0.41 square meters. Expansion modules can be installed in additional racks.

Powerbox claims that, as compared to conventional parallel configuration, the modular concept offers a considerable cost advantage in manufacture and in operating costs, thanks to lower power consumption, reduced maintenance and repair and a hot swap function.

The new UPS is designed to take care of all fluctuations, power failures and frequency variations in the main supply. Depending on the computer load, the PX50 ModuScale can reach an efficiency of 96.5 percent. It is equipped with two 30kVA modules and weighs 440 pounds without batteries. The UPS has an input power factor of 0.98 and THD of less than 7 percent.
