Power Protocol Analyzer for USB 2.0 Current and Voltage Monitoring

March 31, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

Total Phase, Inc. announced the addition of a new product to their portfolio. The new Beagle USB 480 Power Protocol Analyzer provides a unique feature set to address previously unmet needs allowing for advanced USB 2.0 debugging. The new analyzer combines high performance real-time analysis with current and voltage monitoring and advanced state-based triggering. Combined with the industry-leading Data Center Software, this new analyzer provides a full-featured, real-time debugging experience.

"The addition of the Beagle USB 480 Power Protocol Analyzer to our USB product line fills an under-served market for engineers looking to optimize the power profile of their USB devices. Using the new power features, engineers can now correlate USB data transactions with current and voltage measurements," said Gil Ben-Dov, VP & General Manger at Total Phase. "This feature enables engineers to easily identify conditions that may indicate excessive power consumption, and that information can be used to optimize code and create more efficient USB embedded designs. We hope the advanced features of this tool will allow for debugging of more complex USB issues."

The Beagle USB 480 Power analyzer captures both USB data and power measurements in real time. It also features an advanced state-based trigger system with 8 non-sequential states and 6 data matches per state, similar to the technology found in the award-winning Beagle USB 5000 v2 analyzer series. In addition, the 256 MB hardware buffer of the Beagle USB 480 Power protocol analyzer enables engineers to capture larger pre-trigger volumes of data, further enabling an engineer’s ability to perform complex debugging.
