Power Conversion Products Announces New G Series Global Rectifier

September 14, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Power Conversion Products (Crystal Lake, IL) is announcing the availability of the G Series Global Rectifier, a new telecom dc power product. The company claims that the G Series rectifiers have a small footprint, low cost and high efficiency. The interface between the rectifiers and the controller is digital, allowing the customer to customize its alarm and monitoring requirements. The rectifier can be furnished with either a low-cost front panel, which consists of two LEDs, or a more elaborate front-panel display with digital metering and selector buttons.

Initial setup of the rectifiers in the field is automatic and potentiometer adjustments are not required. The new G Series rectifiers feature a hot-swap front-loading connection to the mounting shelf for true plug-and-play capability. Back-plane panel connections within the mounting shelf link the rectifiers via a local area control network to the company's simple controller user interface, which allows the user to control and monitor the rectifier directly or by remote access.

The output of the G Series rectifiers is 4,000W, -48Vdc, 70Amps and +/-24Vdc, 100A. The ac input is 176Vac to 399Vac single-phase, and have an operating temperature of between -40 degrees and 60 degrees C in 0 to 95 percent non-condensing relative humidity. Additionally, the rectifiers have an efficiency of more than 90 percent and a total harmonic distortion of less than five percent. UL (1950) and CE safety-agency approvals are pending.

The G Series rectifiers are available in 6,000A and 10,000A ratings (-48Vdc) and ac inputs are 480Vac, 380Vac, 240Vac and 208Vac, 45Hz to 65Hz, three-phase.
