November 14, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Kenwood (Silver Spring, MD) recently announced the PAC/PAC-R Series regulated power supplies and a switching dc power supply, the PDS Series. The PAC/PAC-R power supplies are designed to provide a compact power supply package with high performance. Output voltages range from 20V to 60V and output currents range from 1A to 6A. Features include low ripple and low noise characteristics, a simultaneous display of voltage/current and floating output terminals. The PAC-R models also offer remote control terminals, series/parallel operation and remote sensing terminals. The PDS Series is CE certified and typically have a power factor of 95 percent. The models feature high reliability and are designed with output voltages ranging from 20V to 120V and output currents range from 6A to 36A. Other features include a high power factor/lower distorted current input, low noise and ripple levels, one master unit able to control two additional parallel units or one series unit, preset memory and an ac power source. An optional remote control is also available. Pricing for the PAC-R models start at $235 each, and pricing for the PDS models start at $1,250 each.
