Oriental Motor Introduces the BX Series Speed-Control System

July 30, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Oriental Motor USA Corp. (Torrance, CA) introduced the BX Series compact, dc, brushless, speed-control system in two package configurations. The BX Series standard speed-control system provides a 100:1 speed range from 30rpm to 3,000rpm. The speed regulation relative to load and voltage variations is 0.05 percent each. The speed regulation relative to temperature is 0.5 percent over an operating environment of 0 to 50 degrees C.

The addition of the OPX-1A control module provides a speed-control system with enhanced speed, position and torque-control capabilities. With the OPX-1A control module, the speed range increases to 3rpm to 3,000rpm. Using the combined OPX-1A and controller package, up to eight speed-control settings are available. Temperature regulation is improved to 0.05 percent over the entire speed range and operating environmental temperature range. The OPX-1A stores and displays a history log of up to the 10 most recent alarm signals, indicating details of the cause of each alarm.

Three motor sizes are available: 30W (BX230), 60W (BX460) and 120W (BX5120). The BX Series can be used with a GF Series gearhead or as a motor only.
