Oriental Motor Announces AXH Series of Mini-Brushless DC Motor and Driver Packages

February 28, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Oriental Motor USA Corp. (Torrance, CA) announced the new AXH Series of 30W (2.36" sq.) and 50W (3.15" sq.) mini-brushless dc motor and board-level driver packages. Oriental Motor claims that the AXH motor in both has been reduced in volume by approximately 55 percent when compared to conventional equivalent-power ac induction speed control motors.

The AXH Series motor and driver package consists of a speed feedback system, a brushless DC motor, a driver and a potentiometer. It is capable of providing speed regulation of ±1 percent maximum over a 25:1 speed range (100rpm to 2500rpm). The packages are UL and CUL approved. The 30W round shaft model, the AXH230K-A, achieves a constant torque of 16.9 ounce-inches, while the 50W model, the AXH450K-A, provides 28.3 ounce-inches.

The AXH Series motors are also available with pre-assembled gearheads. The maximum gearmotor continuous torque reaches up to 53.1 pound-inches for the AXH230K models and up to 141.6 pound-inches for the larger AXH450K models. The motor leads are protected by a cable for safety.

The AXH Series is equipped with control protection functions including

overload currents, over-voltage, under-voltage, over-speed and out-of-phase power. When an abnormality is detected, the LED indicator blinks, an alarm signals and the motor is stopped.
