ON Semiconductor Releases New MC33565 and MC33567 Analog ICs

June 04, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

ON Semiconductor LLC (Phoenix, AZ) has released two new analog ICs for peripheral card and motherboard applications. The MC33565 is a smart voltage regulator that enables switching between the main 5V supply and the 3.3V auxiliary supply. The MC33567 is a dual linear controller that simplifies power management on computer motherboards.

The MC33565 complies with the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface guidelines and provides a regulated output voltage of 3.3V via an internal LDO 5.0V-to-3.3V voltage regulator or an internal P-channel MOSFET, housed in a small SO-8 package. The MC33567 is a dual power-supply controller that provides regulation of high-current supply planes as well as the necessary drive, sense and control signals to interface two separate N-channel MOSFETs as individual series pass elements regulating two different supply planes.

The MC33567 is available in two versions. The MC33567-1 controls two separate series pass transistors to provide regulation for separate 1.5V and 1.8V supply planes. The MC33567-2 controls two separate series pass transistors to provide regulation for separate 2.5V supply planes.
