ON Semiconductor Intros NBSG16M Receiver/Driver

October 26, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

ON Semiconductor Corp. (Phoenix, AZ) introduced the NBSG16M, a silicon-germanium-based, high-bandwidth, fully differential receiver and driver with current mode logic output. The device is the newest member of the company's GigaComm&trade family of high-performance logic ICs designed for the telecommunications, networking and automated test equipment industries.

The NBSG16M simplifies initial conditions and connection termination with on-chip 50 ohm input and output termination. The small 400mV signal swing of current mode logic results in reduced power consumption. The irregularities that result from back reflection of signals later in the circuit, common to high-frequency signaling, are minimized by the on-chip termination.

The NBSG16M is packaged in the 3mm x 3mm, 16-pin, quad flat no-lead package. It offers a minimum impact to board space, and an industrial-grade temperature tolerance of -40°C to +85°C. It is priced at $20 per unit in 10,000-unit quantities.
