ON Semiconductor Completes First-Phase Expansion of Japanese Manufacturing Facility

August 27, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

ON Semiconductor (Phoenix, AZ) announced that it has completed the facility construction in the first phase of expansion of its manufacturing facility in Aizu, Japan. The expanded facility will provide new manufacturing capacity to support ON Semiconductor's strategic growth in efficient analog integrated circuits and better power-management devices for wireless applications. The Aizu plant handles ON Semiconductor's emerging analog CMOS process technology. New manufacturing equipment is being installed to complete the first phase of the expansion. The manufacturing equipment and processes targeted for the first phase will increase wafer production by 50 percent from its current levels with shipments beginning in January 2001. The expanded facility will feature increased production of the 700V high-voltage analog integrated circuits that are suitable for use in line-powered applications worldwide, and that are employed in ac adapters supplied with various products as standard equipment.
