ON Semiconductor Announces the New CS51220 PWM Controller

July 31, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

ON Semiconductor (Phoenix, AZ) has designed a new PWM controller, the CS51220, with advanced feed-forward voltage-mode control circuitry, improved line regulation and transient response over a wide input-voltage range. The new power supply controller features pulse-by-pulse current limit, oscillator frequency, maximum duty cycle, volt-second clamping, over- and under-voltage lockout, and soft-start. The CS51220 operates from a single 12V supply and dissipates 200mW of power.

"With the introduction of the CS51220, ON Semiconductor offers maximum design flexibility to systems designers," said Sue Nee, ON Semiconductor marketing manager of controller products. "The programmable synchronization feature allows our customers to complete their designs with fewer input capacitors, enabling the design of high-density power supplies that provide a cost savings to the manufacturer. It is the latest in the company's power-management portfolio that furthers its penetration into the power supply market."

ON Semiconductor offers the CS51220 in a 16-lead SO package, and the suggested retail price for the CS51220 is $1.98 for 10,000 units.
