Nordex Receives French Wind Turbine Order

September 03, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Nordex AG (Hamburg, Germany), a leading producer of wind turbines, has received two new orders from France, entailing a total of 16 turbines worth a combined EUR 21.5 million. The two projects are to be completed at the beginning of 2003.

Nordex is handling the Bouin project for SIIF Energies, a subsidiary of EDF. The eight N80 2,500kW turbines are to be installed at two wind farms located about 30km south of Nantes and will be constructed on 60m high steel-tube towers. The second order is from private-sector power-station operator Hydelec for four N60 1,300kW and four N43 600kW turbines for the Rivesaltes project near Perpignan. The project does not include access routes and foundations.

"The new order is particularly important for us as it allows us to intensify our relations with one of the leading French developers. At the same time, it testifies to the success of our top-of-the line N80 model, which is meeting with strong demand in more and more foreign markets," stated Nordex CEO Dietmar Kestner.
