new motor/drive combination

September 26, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Kollmorgen (Radford, VA) is now offering a new motor/drive combination, the Kollmorgen GOLDLINE DDR (Direct Drive Rotary) brushless servomotor and SERVOSTAR CD digital amplifier. The combination is intended as a solution for industrial motion control applications that require high torque, flat profile and maintenance-free applications. According to Kollmorgen, the GOLDLINE DDR motor eliminates mechanical parts, such as belts/pulleys and gearboxes, and the backlash and compliance that is associated with these transmissions. The direct drive motor mounts directly on the machine for a flat, compact and quiet design. The motor also provides a large diameter hollow shaft for fluid, pneumatic or electrical feed-throughs. The motor offers peak torque ratings from 12.5 lb-ft to 225.0 lb-ft. Frame sizes are available from 6.9 to 11.2.
