Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector Releases Portfolio of Embedded Controllers

June 04, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Motorola Inc.'s (Austin, TX) Semiconductor Products Sector released a portfolio of embedded controllers and software optimized for motor control systems found in home and industrial products.

Motorola said its new portfolio is designed to help manufacturers increase energy efficiency and safety in their products. The DSP56800 architecture combines the traditional control functions of an MCU with the performance of a DSP, and is designed to allow electronically controlled motor systems to run advanced algorithms.

In addition to the four new 40 MIPS, flash-based, high-performance DSP controllers, Motorola is also expanding its highly integrated eight-bit MCU line for motor control.
