Micrel Semiconductor Reveals the MIC3975 Regulator

July 12, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Micrel Semiconductor (San Jose, CA) has revealed the MIC3975, which it claims is the industry's smallest regulator for 2.5V to 1.8V, or 1.65V conversion. The MIC3975 expands the company's family of MIC39XXX LDOs, designed to power low-voltage microcontrollers, digital signal processors and programmable logic devices.

The MIC3975 has a dropout voltage of 300mV at its full load of 750mA. It is offered in MSOP-8 packaging. Features include fixed and adjustable output voltages, logic-enable input, and an error flag to warn of output fault conditions. The device has current-limit, thermal-shutdown and reverse-battery protections. The maximum input voltage is 16V, and the operating temperature range is -40 to 125 degrees C.

When purchased in quantities of 1,000, pricing starts at $1.40. Samples are currently available, and production quantities are stock to eight weeks ARO.
