Mean Well Intros PPT/PPS-125 Power Supply

May 11, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Mean Well USA Inc. (Fremont, CA), a power supply manufacturer, announced its new low-profile PPS-125 and PPT-125 Series of standard power supplies. Delivering up to 125 W with active power-factor correction, the power supplies measure 3 in x 5 in x 1.37 in, along with fitting into the industry-standard, 3 x 5 footprint.

Four multiple-output models are available: the PPT-125A (3.3 V at 10 A, 5 V at 8 A and 12 V at 0.5 A), the PPT-125B (5 V at 11.5 A, 12 V at 3 A and -12 V at 0.5 A), the PPT-125C (5 V at 11 A, 15 V at 2.5 A and -15 V at 0.5 A), and the PPT-125D (5 V at 7 A, 24 V at 2.5 A and 12 V at 0.5 A). The single-output series PPS-125 units are available in 3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V, 13.5 V, 15 V, 24 V, 27 V and 48 V.

With a typical efficiency of 78 percent, the PPS-125 operates from 90 Vac to 264 Vac, 47 Hz to 63 Hz, or 127 Vdc to 370 Vdc. The leakage current is <2 mA at 240 Vac. It requires 18 cfm of airflow to operate at full power (up to 125 W) and delivers up to 100 W with natural free convection cooling, over a temperature range of -20 °C to +60 °C. Standard features include over-voltage/over-current protection, and 20 mS holdup time at 240 Vac. The calculated mean time between failure is 111.7 thousand hours at 25 °C.

Units are available from stock to six weeks, priced at $36 in OEM quantities.
