Magnetek Unveils Aurora Photovoltaic Inverter Line

Magnetek Inc. (Chatsworth, CA), a leading manufacturer of power conditioners for commercial fuel cells, announced its new line of Aurora photovoltaic (PV) inverters, which change dc produced by solar panels into utility-grade ac. Connectivity to the utility grid enables the new Aurora PV inverter to feed power into the grid as well as to power local loads.

Magnetek expects early market acceptance of the new Aurora inverter by PV system builders, their distributors and solar system integrators in Europe, North America and internationally. The Aurora inverter represents the most advanced technology available in the PV industry, featuring the capability to maximize, by means of proprietary circuitry and software algorithms, the amount of useable (ac) electricity harvested from solar panels under all ambient light conditions. The Aurora line includes six basic models: two indoor and two outdoor transformer-less models, and two outdoor models equipped with high-efficiency isolation transformers. All Aurora models offer unmatched energy harvesting capability — especially under varying weather conditions — inherently high power conversion efficiency, compact size and light weight, ease of installation, and reliability stemming from robust system design.

The complete Aurora product line will be available by year-end, including accessories. Magnetek will officially introduce the new Aurora PV inverter to the North American market at the Solar 2004 trade show in Portland, OR, on July 11-13, 2004. Concurrently, the company has launched a new website featuring Aurora and other products for the alternative energy market, such as power interfaces for wind turbines and fuel cells, at http://www.alternative-energies.com.
