June 17, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Lucent Power Systems (Dallas, TX) announced that its Austin Series Power Modules, claimed to be the industry's smallest power modules for digital signal processor (DSP) and mid-to-high-end computer applications, are now available in Europe. The Austin Series Power Modules have been designed to fit into tight spaces with the processing components of wireless infrastructure, Internet telephony and digital model applications. With a profile height of less than 5.5 mm, the modules weigh less than 5 grams and are three times smaller than other applicable power modules. The isolated Austin Series Power Modules deliver a maximum output current of 5A and operate in low voltage environments (3.3 to 5-volt inputs and 1.5 to 3.3-volt outputs) with up to 85 percent efficiency.
