LTC Intros LT3462/A Inverting DC-DC Converter

May 12, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology Corp. (LTC, Milpitas, CA) introduced its new LT3462/A, a 40 V, 300 mA, inverting dc-dc converter with onboard schottky diode packaged in a ThinSOT™ package. The LT3462 switches at a constant 1.2 MHz, while the "A" version switches at 2.7 MHz. Both devices operate from an input voltage of 2.5 V to 16 V, and can deliver output voltages up to -38 V.

An input-voltage range of 2.5 V to 16 V makes the LTC3462/A suitable for single-cell, lithium-ion or multi-cell, nickel-metal hydride or alkaline applications, as well as other fixed rail systems. It is suitable for negative biasing for CCD and LCD applications as well as general-purpose negative voltage supplies. It can deliver up to 100 mA at -5 V from a 5 V input.

Pricing for the LT3462/A starts at $2.05 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
