Linear Technology Launches the LT1947 DC/DC Converter

June 25, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology (Milpitas, CA) has launched the LT1947, a highly integrated, multiple-output dc/dc converter capable of generating both the high-voltage and low-noise bias voltages required by large thin-film transistor LCD panels. The LT1947 contains two independent switching regulators, one of which includes an internal 1.1A switch, which can generate a boosted voltage as high as 30V. The second regulator’s output is also adjustable up to 30V and can deliver up to 10mA for positive bias. The negative bias voltage is achieved with a simple level-shift charge pump off the main switch.

Linear Technology claims that the high operating frequency and high level of integration makes its LT1947 the smallest and simplest solution for applications in notebook and desktop monitor display panels. The device operates from a 2.7V to 6V supply voltage with a fixed frequency of 3MHz. The LT1947 comes in a MSOP-10 package and maintains a height profile below 1.2mm.

The LT1947 is available from stock. Pricing starts at $2.60 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
