Linear Technology Announces New LTC2601 DAC

June 01, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Linear Technology Corp. (LTC, Milpitas, CA) announced its new LTC2601, which reduces the size and improves the performance of compact portable products by integrating a high-performance, voltage output, 16-bit, digital-to-analog converter (DAC) in a 3 mm x 3 mm, 10-pin, DFN package. The LTC2601 DAC is suitable for space-constrained applications, optimizing board layout.

The LTC2601's output buffer provides drive capability over its entire 2.5 V to 5.5 V supply voltage range. The DAC output can directly drive capacitive loads up to 1,000 pF or current loads up to 15 mA, and maintains good linearity to within millivolts of both supply rails. The low output offset (9 mV maximum) provides a zero-scale voltage. The LTC2601's low noise reduces the need for output filtering and its 0.1 Hz to 10 Hz noise (15 µVp-p) is much lower than competitive devices. The LTC2601's low 250 µA supply current and 1 µA maximum shutdown current are suitable for battery-powered applications.

Pricing starts at $2.70 each for the LTC2601 in 1,000-piece quantities.
