Lambda Intros MC12 and MZ12 EMI Filter Series

August 04, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda Electronics Inc. (San Diego, CA) introduced two EMI filter series that comply with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive. The new MC12 and MZ12 families of filters have been designed for use in a number of industrial applications ranging from process control to medical equipment.

The MC12 filters provide low-frequency noise attenuation, and the MZ12 filters reduce input pulses. Both series accept a single-phase voltage of up to 250 Vac and are available in 6 A, 10 A, 16 A, 20 A and 30 A ratings. The filters can also be specified with the standard 1 mA or low 10 mA leakage current option for use in medical, gaming or other ground-current-sensitive applications.

In addition to the popular DIN rail mounting, the MC12 and MZ12 EMI filters are available in a chassis-mount configuration. All models share a common case size of 3.88 in x 2.36 in x 1.36 in. Connection has been simplified by the use of a unique captive screw that accepts industry-standard ring terminals. A built-in hinged cover has been provided to protect the user against electric shock.

Both series have been safety-agency approved to UL1283 and EN133200. The MC12 and MZ12 filters are available now, with prices starting at $32 in single-unit quantities.
