Lambda Expands Power Supply Offerings With New UltraFlex Unit

May 24, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda (San Diego, CA) has expanded the offerings of its modular power supplies with the new 1,500W UltraFlex unit. The new unit is capable of up to 20 configurable outputs and has a full array of input and output signals. It is suitable for semiconductor fabrication systems, automated test equipment and factory automation equipment.

In a 5" x 5" x 11" case, the UltraFlex unit provides output voltage choices ranging from 1.8 to 52.8V, with no minimum load requirement on single-output modules. The unit provides over-voltage, overload and over-temperature protection as well as a ±10 percent voltage adjustment on all outputs. Additionally, the 1,500W UltraFlex unit features a standard array of converter and output module signals. There are a total of seven converter signals available including global-output inhibit, global-output good, fan fail and thermal alarm. A total of 10 output module signals are standard. These include current share, current monitor, module inhibit, remote adjust and module output good.

Lambda’s new UltraFlex unit is compliant to EN61000-3-2 power-factor correction standards, IEC1000-4 input transient immunity standards and meets EMI level B conducted, and level A radiated standards. The series also has CE Marking, UL 1950, CSA234 and EN60950 worldwide safety agency approvals. The 1,500W UltraFlex is currently available with typical production lead times of eight weeks. Pricing averages $0.80/W when purchased in OEM quantities.
