Lambda Adds Eight Products to SWS Series

December 18, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda Electronics Inc. (San Diego, CA) announced that it has added eight new models to its SWS Series of power supplies. The series now covers the output voltages of 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V and 24V. Available in four power ratings of 50W, 75W, 100W and 150W, the fully enclosed units not only carry CE (LVD), UL, CSA and EN60950 safety agency logos, but are approved to the input surge requirements of EN50178.

The series also conforms to both the immunity standards of EN61000-4 and the EMC standards of EN55011-B, EN55022-B and FCC-B. All models meet EN61000-3-2, and the 100W and 150W will be fitted with an integral active power-factor correction filter. Other features include a ±10% output adjustment, a power-good LED indicator and screw terminal connections. The operating temperature range is from –10°C to +60°C, or up to 70°C with forced air-cooling. Conservative de-rating characteristics ensure the internal components, particularly electrolytic capacitors, operate at a reduced thermal stress. Reliability calculations based on the capacitor life indicate a five-fold life expectancy over some low-cost imports.

The new SWS models are available now, starting at $54 for single-piece quantities.
