Kollmorgen Expands DDL Line With IL03 Model and ICD Series

December 05, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Kollmorgen (Radford, VA) has expanded its DDL line to include the IL03 model and ICD Series. The ICD motor series is a reduced-envelope ironcore motor that features a low attractive force, anti-cogging design in a reduced envelope. It is suited to bridge the gap between the larger IL models and smaller IC coils.

According to Kollmorgen, the low attractive force and minimal envelope allows the new DDL models to replace ironless motors or ballscrews without greatly impacting existing designs. Modular design uses existing DDL cable sets and IC style hall effects. Two lengths are offered, ICD05 and ICD10, with four widths each (30mm, 50mm, 75mm and 100mm). Corresponding magnet assemblies have stainless steel covers standard.

The IL03 Series is a 63mm short-length ironless linear motor that is used for low-force requirements or moving low masses. Offered in 15mm, 30mm and 50mm widths, it also uses standard DDL cable sets and IL series hall effect modules. Standard magnet channels are used as well.
