May 14, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

IXYS Corporation and Torex Semiconductor Ltd. today announced the formation of a sales relationship aimed at increasing product adoption in consumer applications worldwide. Effective from April 25, 2014, the agreement allows Torex to sell select IXYS' consumer-driven ICs, MOSFETs and IGBTs in Japan. IXYS has gained the sales rights to Torex's consumer analog ICs, which will be sold in Europe and the Americas through IXYS' extensive internal sales and distribution networks.

“By broadening our relationship with Torex, IXYS can more effectively address the needs and challenges of Japanese consumer electronics companies. Benefitting from on-the-ground knowledge and insight, we may capture first mover advantage in introducing new products to meet evolving demands unique to Japan,” commented Dr. Nathan Zommer, CEO of IXYS. “Simultaneously, we look forward to adding Torex’s analog ICs to our product portfolio, which can be marketed to our 3,000 plus customer base worldwide.”

“We are honored to be selected by IXYS as its sales partner in Japan, and are pleased to be working with the power semiconductor leader to connect Japanese customers to cutting edge technologies. IXYS’ high reliability products will be welcomed in Japan, with applications ranging from consumer to industrial,” said Tom Fujisaka, President of Torex. “We are also excited to see Torex products gain visibility on a global scale. Many Torex products are used today for portable devices (smart phones, digital cameras, etc.) and automotive systems (car navigation, control units for power windows, etc.).”
