ITW Paktron Announces New Applications for Quencharc Capacitor

May 20, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

ITW Paktron (Lynchburg, VA) announced a new application for its Quencharc capacitor. The Quencharc is a RC snubber network, consisting of a metallized PET capacitor in series with a carbon composition resistor. The Quencharc has been used for many years to suppress voltage transients caused by dc inductive load switching. ITW Paktron maintains that these same Quencharc, Type Q or QRL, capacitors will also suppress the transients that reset PLCs, decoupling voltage spikes without wasting energy.

The Quencharc RC snuber network is available in capacitance values from 0.1°F to 1.0°F and resistor values from 22ohms to 680ohms. Voltage categories start at 200Vdc/125Vac and range to 1,600Vdc/600Vac. Prices start $0.56 for 5,000 pieces. Delivery is from stock to eight weeks.
