IR Expands µIPM™ Family with Half-Bridge Power Modules for Motors up to 300W

October 28, 2013 by Jeff Shepard

International Rectifier Corp. (IRF) today announced the expansion of its family of highly-integrated, ultra-compact, patent pending µIPM™ power modules with the introduction of the IRSM808-105MH and IRSM807-105MH, optimized for high-efficiency appliance and light-industrial applications with motor power up to 300W. Available in an ultra-compact 8x9x0.9mm PQFN package, the IRSM808-105MH and IRSM807-105MH half-bridge power modules offer up to a 60-percent smaller footprint than existing 3-phase motor control power ICs to provide a highly compact heatsink-free solution for applications including compressor drives for refrigeration, pumps for heating and water circulation, air-conditioning fans, dishwashers, and automation systems.

These devices are both rated for 500V and an output current of 10A at 25 degrees C. They can deliver a motor current of 1.1A RMS without a heat sink and up to 1.3A RMS with a heat sink (for Fc=16kHz, 2-phase PWM, ∆TCA=70°C, TA ≈ 25°C). Pricing begins at US $1.44 each for both the IRSM808-105MH and IRSM807-105MH in 10,000-unit quantities. Production quantities are available immediately.

“The IRSM808-105MH and IRSM807-105MH half-bridge µIPM™ power modules provide designers with even greater scalability, in addition to offering up to a 60 percent smaller footprint compared to existing leading solutions and delivering advantages in output current capability and system efficiency cost-effectively,” said Alberto Guerra, Vice President, Strategic Market Development, IR’s Energy Saving Products Business Unit.
