IPS Releases IFC350 Line of AC/DC Power Supplies

February 28, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

International Power Sources (IPS, Holliston, MA) released a new line of medium-power ac/dc power supplies, the IFC350 Series. Supplying 350W in an industry-standard U-bracket package, which measures 9.9" x 5.0" x 2.56", the converters have a typical power factor value of 0.98. They come in eighteen models with single-, dual-, triple- or quad-output voltages and are suited for rack-mounted network, telecom and industrial systems where power factor correction is required.

The new IFC350 Series features universal input allowing input voltages between 90Vac and 264Vac. Output-voltage selections include 5.1, 12, 15, 24, 30, and 48Vdc. Quad-output standard configurations include 5.1V/±12V/5VF, 5.1V/±15V/24VF, 5.1V/±12V/12VF, 5.1V/12V/15V/-15VF and 5.1V/±12V/24VF, where F indicates floating output that is usable in either polarity. Dual- and triple-output combinations are also available. The main output voltage's trim range is 10 percent.

According to IPS, input-to-output isolation in the new series is greater than 3,000Vac. The converters bear approvals from UL, CSA, TÜV as well as EMI limits per FCC and CISPR. They have power fail detect and remote sensing capabilities. IPS claims that their main output voltage is better than 2 percent at full load for sensitive surface-mount components. Magnetic amplifiers deliver all other outputs at 4 percent tolerance.

OEM quantity pricing for the fully-loaded, 100 percent burned-in IFC350 Series ranges from $120 to $150. Prototype quantities are available from stock.
