Intersil Holding Announces New HUF75617D3 Power MOSFET

July 09, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Intersil Holding Corp. (Irvine, CA) announced the latest addition to its growing family of application-specific power MOSFETs. The HUF75617D3 is an UltraFET MOSFET designed to control fuel injectors in gasoline and direct-injection applications. The device controls the electrical current to injectors that determine the amount of fuel introduced into the cylinders of automobile engines.

The HUF75617D3 is a 100V, 17A MOSFET with an Rds(on) of 0.090 ohms. According to Intersil, the device delivers low on-resistance at the 100V level in a small footprint package because of the on-resistance per unit area performance of Intersil's UltraFET technology. The device is engineered to withstand high energy in the avalanche mode and also features low gate charge, fast recovery time and lower reverse body diode charge for applications that require fast switching speeds and improved efficiency.

"Automotive power-plant advances will begin centering around fuel economy and acceleration in larger displacement engines," said Peter Blumenroether, marketing manager for automotive discretes at Intersil. "Intersil has developed power-control products, such as the HUF75617D3, that are specifically designed to meet the demands of automotive designers."

The HUF75617D3 is currently available for volume production in the TO-251AA and TO-252AA surface-mount packages.
