International Rectifier Announces the IRF5803D2 and IRF7342D2 FETKY Devices

International Rectifier (El Segundo, CA) announced two new p-channel FETKY devices in an SO-8 package. The IRF5803D2 and IRF7342D2 are additions to its line of co-packaged HEXFET power MOSFETs and Schottky diodes. The new devices are suitable for use in buck-converter designs such as those used in peripheral applications.

Carl Blake, technical marketing manager for dc/dc products, commented, "P-channel FETKY devices do not require a charge pump or a bootstrap capacitor for high-side drive-voltage in buck converters, so replacing n-channel control MOSFETs with FETKY devices simplifies drive circuits, reducing system cost. The space savings contribute towards smaller, sleeker designs, both major driving factors in products such as desktop printers."

The new IRF5803D2 and IRF7342D2 devices are currently in full producction. Pricing for the IRF5803D2 is $0.37 each in 10,000-unit quantities. The IRF7342D2 is available for $0.46 each in the same quantities.
