industry standard 117 linear regulator

December 19, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Intersil Corporation (Palm Bay, FL) recently announced its radiation hardened (Rad Hard) version of the industry standard 117 linear regulator, the HS-117RH. The HS-117RH is designed to provide adjustable output from 1.2V to 40V from a supply of up to 40Vdc. The device offers a readily available radiation-tested linear regulator. It is also an addition to Intersil's Star Power family of Rad Hard power semiconductors designed for military and commercial space power systems applications. Intersil claims that the HS-117RH is immune to single event latch-up, because of its dielectrically-isolated Rad Hard silicon gate (RSG) process. The device features incorporate circuitry that minimizes the effects of radiation and temperature stability. It also has a post radiation load regulation of 0.3 percent at 25 degrees C and a post radiation line regulation of 0.02 percent at 25 degrees C. The HS-117RH is currently available in QML levels V, Q and T in three-lead TO-257 and SMD 0.5 packages to Standard Microcircuit Drawing 5962F99547.
