Industrial Devices' Thrust Tube Linear Motors Achieve Cleanroom Compliance Rating

August 12, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Industrial Devices Corp. (IDC, Petaluma, CA) announced that their Thrust Tube tubular linear motors have passed the Class 1 cleanroom compliance tests carried out by the Fraunhofer Institute (Germany). In accordance with US Federal Standard 209E, the standard Thrust Tube module meets the most stringent cleanroom requirements at transfer speeds of up to 0.1m/s, or 250 inches per minute.

IDC reports that these drive systems are suitable for applications using cleanroom environments, such as semiconductor manufacturing. They also allow machine builders to achieve greater control, speed and accuracy in positioning and handling applications. Standard Thrust Tube systems are available as plug-and-play modules, and are compatible with industry-standard servo-drives.
