Nichicon Corp. has developed the GYB series of conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors, which are guaranteed for 10,000 hours at 105°C. This new series is a high temperature, long life and high ripple current product.

It was developed in response to demands for higher-performance aluminum electrolytic capacitors. This new series is designed for use in consumer electronics and industrial machinery applications.

Nichicon launched the GYA series of conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors (guaranteed for 4,000 hours at 125°C) for use in the automotive onboard electronics and industrial machinery fields.

However, demand is also increasing in the consumer electronics field for products that offer higher performance and an extended life. By developing the GYB series, Nichicon now offers a product that is suited for applications that call for higher performance and extended lifespans, such as consumer electronics.

Conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors use conductive polymers and electrolytes for the electrolyte. This takes advantage of the conductive polymers’ characteristics of low-ESR performance and high heat resistance. The electrolyte also functions in oxide layer repair.

The GYB series takes the design concepts of the previously released GYA series, optimizing the film formation process of the conductive polymer and using an electrolyte with good affinity to conductive polymers.

As a result, the GYB series offers 1.2 to 1.4 times higher ripple tolerance than the GYA series. The lifespan has also been extended, being guaranteed for 10,000 hours in a 105°C environment.

Main specifications include:

  • Rated voltage range from 25V to 63V
  • Rated capacitance range of 10- to 330-μF
