HiTek Debuts HF-10 Hot-Plug Power Model

November 04, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

HiTek Power (Santee, CA) announced a new addition to its HiFlex family of modular ac/dc power systems, the hot-plug 700W/1,000W HF-10. The new HF-10 power system includes up to five low- or high-current output modules and features redundant operation between each module, utilizing built-in OR-ing circuitry. Applications include telecommunications, computer peripherals, process control, thermal printers, office automation, and medical and industrial equipment.

The HF-10 has a power rating of 700W through the full range 85Vac to 264Vac

input and 1,000W with 220Vac input. It provides up to 16 outputs, with no minimum load requirements, and unlimited output combinations that meet all international safety and emission specifications. In addition, the 200W output modules include the integrated isolation circuitry and single-wire active current sharing necessary for N+1 hot-plug systems. The HF-10 is packaged in a 2.5in x 5in x 11in fan-cooled enclosure.

The power system's chassis has five slots, and the power-factor correction input circuitry accepts voltage in the range of 85Vac to 264Vac, with active power-factor correction to 0.99. Single- or multiple-output dc/dc modules can occupy any of the five slots. For system control logic use, the HF-10 incorporates a built-in isolated standby output of 5V at 0.3A.

The HiFlex HF-10 modular power system is priced at $420, in production

quantities, and comes with a one-year warranty.
