April 11, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Generac Power Systems (Waukesha, WI) unveiled its new line of automatic standby generators. the new QT Series, which range in output from 15 kW to 150 kW and have been designed specifically for commercial applications. The generator automatically runs at reduced engine speed when utility power is present, making the genset exceptionally quiet.

The QT Series gensets run on natural gas, which eliminate the fuel storage, spillage, spoilage and odor concerns of conventional diesel generators. The QT Series gensets feature electrical power outputs rated at 15 kW, 20 kW, 25 kW, 30 kW, 40 kW, 55 kW, 70 kW, 80 kW, 100 kW, 130 kW and 150 kW; as well as single-phase and three-phase electrical outputs. All QT Series models feature electronic governors and advanced digital computer controls, with system status indicators and a remote alarm option.

"These gensets were designed to meet the needs of small- and medium-sized businesses," states Generac Power Systems Marketing Communications Manager Mike Carr. "It's a revolutionary product that will bring clean, quiet and affordable standby power within the reach of millions of enterprises that have never had a backup generator. The QT Series gensets are surprisingly quiet, environmentally friendly and amazingly affordable."

Units up to 40 kW are available in versions that use liquid propane vapor as an alternative fuel. The QT Series is UL 2200 listed and meets or exceeds the safety and power output standards for stationary generator systems.
