FPL Energy Executes Power-Purchase Agreement with Wisconsin Electric Power

FPL Energy Inc. (Juno Beach, FL) recently announced that a subsidiary, FPL Energy Wisconsin Wind LLC, has executed long-term power-purchase agreements with Wisconsin Electric Power Company (Milwaukee, WI) and Alliant Energy-Wisconsin Power and Light Company (Madison, WI) to supply 30MW of wind-generated electric energy from what will be the largest wind farm east of the Mississippi River.

FPL Energy's Wisconsin Wind Farm will be located near Allenton, WI, approximately 43 miles northwest of Milwaukee. The wind farm will consist of approximately 33 wind turbine generators, supplying enough renewable energy for more than 12,000 households.

The wind farm is under development and construction is expected to begin March 1, 2000. Operation is scheduled to begin December 31, 2000.
