FPL and CSW Report on Southwest Mesa Wind Project

FPL Energy Inc. (Juno Beach, FL) and Central and South West Corp. (CSW, Dallas) announced that the first 19 of 107 wind turbines at the Southwest Mesa Wind Project are being interconnected with the Texas electrical grid. When fully energized, the project will become the state's largest wind energy generating facility, the companies stated. >/p>The facility, located atop a 600-foot mesa near McCamey, Texas, will begin supplying 75MW of energy to CSW's West Texas Utilities Co., Central Power and Light Co. and Southwestern Electric Power Co. subsidiaries. CSW recently signed a 20-year power purchase agreement to buy renewable energy produced from FPL Energy's wind generating facility. The 700kW wind turbines are being supplied by NEG Micon USA Inc.
