Fairchild Semiconductor Introduces New FAN7554 PWM Controller IC

January 09, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Fairchild Semiconductor (South Portland, ME) has introduced its FAN7554 versatile PWM controller IC for use with power MOSFETs in off-line, dc/dc conversion and other switch-mode power supply applications, such as those found in desktop computers, monitors and power adapters.

The FAN7554 is a current-mode PWM controller that operates up to 500kHz. Fairchild Semiconductor claims that the device integrates control and power-savings circuitry to eliminate several external components and reduce system power consumption. The FAN7554 incorporates soft-startup circuitry, over-voltage protection, over-current protection, over-load protection and over-current latch-up protection. FAN7554 is available in an eight-lead DIP or SOP package.
