Erskine Launches Switch-Tripping Battery Charger

April 06, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Erskine Systems Ltd. (UK), a designer and manufacturer of battery-based ac and dc power systems, announced the launch of its new range of industrial "switch-tripping" battery chargers. The new industrial 110 W switch-mode rectifiers are compact and efficient, and can be supplied as a stand-alone power supply, or as part of a complete dc power package, including wall-mounted enclosures, alarm and control units, and batteries.

The rectifier range covers nominal dc output voltages of 12 V, 24 V, 30 V, 48 V, 60 V and 110 V, and with a constant-voltage current-limited output that allows multiple rectifiers to be connected in parallel for redundancy or increased power. Typically, the rectifiers are used in switch-tripping applications where the rectifier operates in parallel with a rechargeable lead-acid or nickel-cadmium battery. The rectifier supplies small continuous loads, such as for instrumentation and indication lamps, while maintaining the battery in a fully charged state. The battery is rated to supply any high-capacity, short-duration, switch/circuit breaker tripping and closing loads.
