EOS Selected by Cobalt Networks To Supply Power Supplies

May 10, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

EOS Corp. (Camarillo, CA) announced it has been selected by Cobalt Networks (Mountain View, CA) to supply internal and external power supplies for its industry leading network server appliances. Cobalt selected EOS' new Z-Series external power adapters for use with its popular CacheQube as well as the recently announced V-Series internal open-frame power supplies for use with the new NASRaQ.The EOS Z- and V-Series power supplies provide Cobalt design teams with very high-current density, unparalleled efficiency, and small size, according to the firm. EOS claims that its power supplies feature the highest package density and current densities in the industry, literally 3 to 4 times that of the leading competitor. Power densities exceeding 7 watts/cu.in. and efficiencies above 85 percent. This, says EOS, compares to efficiencies of 75 percent or less of the competition.
