May 10, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

EnerSys Inc. (Reading, PA) released a new low-profile, front-terminal, valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) battery that provides the same capacity as the previous model, with a 10-percent reduction in height. Measuring 561 mm x 125 mm x 283 mm (22.1 in x 4.9 in x 11.1 in), the new 12V155FS battery is suitable for applications where low-profile, high-capacity battery power is required, such as integrated power enclosures used in the wireless industry, as well as in telecommunications and uninterruptible power supply applications.

The new 12 V, 155 Ah battery, part of EnerSys' PowerSafe V range of front-terminal VRLA batteries, employs positive and negative plates in a lead-tin-calcium construction. The 12V155FS™ front-terminal connections enable fast and easy installation, inspection, and maintenance. The terminals feature brass inserts, offering maximum conductivity with a high-compression grommet, ensuring prolonged product life.

The 12V155FS has a capacity of 155 Ah at the 8-hour rate to 1.75 Vpc at 25 °C (77 °F), a capacity of 150 Ah at the 10-hour rate to 1.80 Vpc at 20 °C (68 °F), and a 10-year design life at 25 °C (77 °F). Pricing for the12V155FS starts at $346 per unit. Delivery begins in July 2004.
