April 21, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

Cyber Innovation Labs, LLC (CIL) a provider of EMP and Solar Flare Protected Data Centers, announced today the establishment of a new entity, EMP GRID Services, LLC, by virtue of a teaming agreement signed with Cupertino Electric, Inc., ETS-Lindgren, Resilient Design Fabrication and WiredRE. The EMP GRID (Global Resilient Infrastructure Development) Services team collectively represents annual revenue in excess of $1.4 billion, more than 10 million square feet of delivered data center space and a project portfolio of more than 12,000 customers.

The agreement unites the five entities to leverage one another's industry expertise, unique capabilities and significant project history to market and deliver electromagnetic pulse (EMP), IEMI, HEMP, and Solar Flare-protected enterprise data center solutions. Under the teaming agreement, the five companies will seek mutually-beneficial opportunities incorporating EMP and Solar Flare-shielding technologies in the development of ultra-high resilient enterprise data center facilities.

As one of the largest specialty contractors in the nation, Cupertino Electric and its Modular Data Center Division are renowned for delivering highly-integrated, scalable and fast-to-deploy solutions and services that span the entire electrical project lifecycle. ETS-Lindgren is an international manufacturer of components and systems that measure, shield and control electromagnetic and acoustic energy. Resilient Design Fabrication specializes in data center warehousing, machine learning and advanced software engineering techniques. WiredRE is the nation's leading cloud, colocation and data center real estate advisory firm.

EMP GRID Services is uniquely positioned to offer clients state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly and LEED compliant, Greenfield EMP facilities. Built from the ground up and backed with enhanced (2N) Tier 3 standards and onsite per generation capabilities in excess of 30 days, EMP GRID Services solutions provide ultra-resilient infrastructures to clients whose mission-critical systems require survivability from catastrophic events that may impact local, regional and potentially national failure of the electrical power grid.

"The EMP GRID Services joint venture enables all five entities to expand their data center portfolios and deliver world-class EMP and Solar Flare protected, max-resilient IT infrastructures to a broader market," says Jack Pressman, Chairman of Cyber Innovation Labs. "We are excited for the many opportunities that this combination will provide our clients; together we are well positioned to compete effectively as a provider of electromagnetic threat-protected facilities/systems," Pressman added.

"With nearly 50 megawatts of modular data center solutions installed around the world, Cupertino Electric is excited to bring the same expertise, innovative spirit and proven ability to deliver ahead of the market to this partnership that we bring to our projects," said Bruce Baxter, Modular Division Manager for Cupertino Electric. "We are excited about the prospect of delivering EMP and Solar Flare-protected data center solutions to our high-profile customers at the cost of a traditionally-built data center, thanks to this GRID agreement."

Michael Caruso, Director of Government & Specialty Business Development for ETS-Lindgren Inc. states, "ETS-Lindgren is considered to be an authority in electromagnetic pulse protection, with over 50 years of experience in the passive control of RF Energy and EMP shielding and we are very proud to be members of this talented team that is launching fully integrated EMP protected data center solutions. Government and Military facility planners have long identified the need for incorporating EMP protection into their disaster/recovery planning designs and now, non-government Critical Infrastructure communities are beginning to recognize the potential threat that EMP poses for the continuation of business." Caruso also added, "This new-to-the-world offering is truly unique and will provide world class facilities that address evolving threats to our Critical Infrastructure Data Centers."
